Wildlife Sanctuary

Thanks to the generous legacy gift from Mrs. Cynthia Granfield, Northwest Wildlife Preservation Society became stewards of Manley Farm Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary, a mixed-use 240 acre property of forest, wetland and marine habitat in 1994. Our sanctuary supports thousands of animals including threatened and endangered species like the red-legged frog, barn owl and orca.

While the property remains closed to the public to ensure safe haven for the wildlife, there are many opportunities to get involved. Please read on below for more information as well visit our blog and follow our Facebook page for regular updates.

Wetland Restoration Project

Thanks to the generosity of BCIT Ecological Restoration students Carlo Acuña and Anne Fisher, and funding from a variety of sources including Environment Canada’s National Wetland Conservation Fund, Shell, Chevron and many individual donors, we were able to complete an extensive wetland rehabilitation on our sanctuary. Donors

We regularly conduct special projects like habitat restoration, invasive species management, and interpretive trail signage – all of which are crucial to the protection of wildlife in the area. We are so grateful to the many individuals who donate to the sanctuary, as well as the businesses who generously provide us grants. Some of our major donors include:
